Numerical Study of a Roughened Solar Air Heater using Matlab

    Abstract

    A comparative numerical investigation of artificially roughened solar air heater is presented in this paper. Two different W-shaped rib roughness have been selected as roughness geometries. Different exergy losses are considered as different performance parameters in present study and investigation has been carried out analytically in MATALAB .In this study performance of solar air heater is analyzed for different values of ∆T/I and e/D. This study encompasses of Reynolds number range (4000- 14000), aspect ratio (8), relative roughness height (e/D) of 0.03375, angle of attack (α) of 60º, relative roughness pitch (P/e) of 10 and isolation value of 1000 w/m2 .Both the roughness geometries show similar plot characteristics. It is investigated that discrete W-shape rib roughness performs better W-shape rib roughness for given range of parameters.
